| 1. Full and detailed sail survey.
We check every inch of stitching, head, tack and clew. All fittings are
checked for wear. We even check the state of the cloth itself. Ratsey &
Lapthorn will then provide you with a detailed report on the condition of the sail and any
repair work necessary will be costed for your approval / go ahead. 2. Valet the sail. This removes harmful salt crystals and
airbourne pollutants that if left could prove extremely harmful to your sail.
Sails are spot treated to remove...
- Rust
- Oxides
- Oil and grease
- Mould and mildew
The sail is then soaked in a mild soap solution for several hours before being gently
scrubbed for 20 minutes. It is then rinsed thoroughly in fresh water before being
hung to dry.
3. Repair. Once valeting is complete, should
repair work be necessary it is taken care of at this stage.
4. Storage. Ratsey & Lapthorn will store
your sail(s) in a controlled environment until you requst return, ready for the coming
season.
